Summer Harvesting

I decided to give up on picking blueberries and just bought 9 quarts from the Farmer's Market along with 3 dozen ears of corn for the freezer...

We picked this sunflower and harvested the seeds...

But then we discovered that some larva beat us to the punch.  You can see a few of these seeds have holes...

The biggest success was these fried green tomatoes...

Matthew got the idea to make ketchup out of our tomatoes so that's next on the docket.  I'm still searching for a simple recipe.

Nap Mat Completed

Well, it took us half an hour, but we finally found fabric that we could both agree on...

I don't love it, but Joe does and that's more important.  I guess.  The core is a foam exercise mat that we got at Target and cut to size...

Also, this egg/banana guy appeared spontaneously...

More School Pants

I adapted the pattern from Growing Up Sew Liberated to make some school pants for Joseph...

I doubt anyone will say, "How did you sew these so perfectly???"  But I don't care...

Everyone wanted to get in the picture this morning for some reason...

Two pairs down, one to go...

We're getting excited about school!  Rain gear keeps arriving in the mail and I'm ordering lunch box supplies today.  We went to the fabric store yesterday to get fabric for Joe's rest-time mat, I should be able to finish that today with any luck.  We're in the home stretch for sure.

YIPEE! The Cider Mill is OPEN!

A sign that fall is approaching...

We'll have to make bread and crack this open today...

NOTE TO CHRIS:  Danny wanted to eat your doughnut,
Me:  "That one's for Daddy,"
Danny:  "Yeah, I want to EAT Daddy's!"
I didn't let him, but then I ate it myself while he was taking his nap soooo, um...  sorry about that.
